Popkey needs developers who can build things. Specifically, backend systems and web applications using Python and Django – and we’re open to both freshers and those with up to two years’ experience. This is an on-site role based in Aynavaram, Chennai, so be prepared to commute.
You’ll be working on everything from designing and maintaining applications to building APIs and managing databases (PostgreSQL or MySQL preferred). Expect to integrate backend services with frontend applications, and a focus on performance and security. Git is essential, and familiarity with AWS EC2 is a plus – though not a dealbreaker. A Computer Science or Software Engineering degree is expected.
The internship runs for three months, with a clear path to full-time employment based on performance. Pay is in the ₹7,000 to ₹8,000 per month range. It’s a small team, currently – about six engineers – which means you’ll have a real impact and learn quickly. We’re building rapidly, and this role is critical to scaling our backend infrastructure – a challenge that demands both creativity and meticulous attention to detail.
And frankly, this isn’t a role for those who want to hide in meetings; you’ll be coding most of the time. This is a hands-on opportunity to get your start, and we’re looking for people who are eager to learn and contribute. Consider this a fast track to real-world experience.
