Data Engineer – AI Ops – Hyderabad You’ll build and operate the data pipelines that power Southwest’s AI platform, ensuring AI/ML models run reliably at scale. The role offers immediate ownership of production flows, modern AWS tooling, and the chance to deepen AI‑focused data engineering skills. What You’ll Do Assemble large, complex data sets to meet functional and non‑functional requirements. Design and implement process improvements for scalable infrastructure and automated data delivery. Build ETL/ELT pipelines on AWS and SQL platforms to extract, transform, and load diverse sources. Develop analytical tools that surface actionable insights on operational efficiency and customer acquisition. Partner with data, product, design, and executive teams to resolve data‑related technical issues. Create or adapt tooling to meet user needs and support additional responsibilities as directed. What You Need Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or related field. 3+ years experience in data engineering (ETL/ELT) using SQL and Python. 2+ years with AWS data services (Glue, S3, Athena, basic Kinesis). Experience with an orchestrator such as Airflow, AWS Glue, or Step Functions. 1+ year implementing data quality checks, schema validation, and basic observability. 2+ years using Git, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing for data workflows. Hands‑on exposure to ServiceBus or comparable AWS cloud‑admin tasks and Agile development practices. Good to Have Experience with Spark or Databricks. Familiarity with lakehouse formats (Iceberg, Delta, Hudi) or data‑contract governance tools. Knowledge of vector databases (Pinecone, OpenSearch, pgvector) and streaming platforms (Kafka, Kinesis).
