What You’ll Do
- Design and implement backend services using Java 17+ in a cloud‑native environment.
- Build and evolve event‑driven microservices with high throughput and resilience.
- Create clean, documented REST APIs and service contracts for internal and external consumption.
- Develop PostgreSQL data models and optimise relational queries.
- Engineer concurrency, idempotency, fault‑tolerance and high‑availability mechanisms.
- Implement observability (logs, metrics, tracing) to diagnose issues rapidly.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes and AWS tooling.
What You Need
- 4+ years of professional Java development (or comparable OO language).
- Strong grasp of OOP principles, design patterns, and distributed systems fundamentals.
- Hands‑on experience building production microservices.
- Proficiency with PostgreSQL and relational data modeling.
- Knowledge of concurrency, performance tuning, and high‑load system behavior.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD and AWS services.
- Excellent communication and collaborative mindset.
Good to Have
- Familiarity with Faster Payments, Bacs, or other payment schemes.
- Experience with testing frameworks such as Cucumber or Mockito.
