Senior Software Engineer – Backend (Commerce Team), Hyderabad

You’ll build and own high‑performance backend APIs that power streaming‑commerce experiences, collaborating with global teams to ship scalable, reliable services. The role sits in Warner Bros. Discovery’s Commerce group, part of Core & Data, and focuses on subscription, pay‑per‑view and payment‑integration challenges. What You’ll Do Design and ship high‑performance, scalable backend services for streaming commerce. Set coding and operational standards, driving best‑practice adoption across the team. Lead technical decisions and influence product strategy during planning cycles. Diagnose and resolve production incidents, documenting root causes and learnings. Mentor junior engineers, reviewing designs and ensuring code quality. Implement monitoring, alerting, and logging to maintain system reliability. What You Need 5–8 years of Java or other JVM language development experience. Deep knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS cloud services. Strong grasp of micro‑service architecture, gRPC, and Kafka messaging. Hands‑on experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, Elasticsearch, or Caffeine. Proficiency in building observability with Prometheus, CloudWatch, Kibana, PagerDuty. Familiarity with asynchronous, non‑blocking, reactive programming patterns. Good to Have Experience with Spring WebFlux or Vert.x frameworks. Exposure to Node.js for backend services. Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automated testing. Background in payments, taxation, or financial reporting domains.
