Software Dev Principal Engineer – DPI & SSL/TLS Security

Lead the architecture and development of Deep Packet Inspection and SSL/TLS decryption engines for next‑generation firewall appliances and virtual firewalls, delivering high‑throughput L7 inspection and threat prevention at scale. You’ll guide hardware acceleration strategies and mentor senior engineers to ensure robust, standards‑compliant security solutions. What You’ll Do Architect multi‑gigabit DPI engine for stream‑based L7 traffic inspection. Design SSL/TLS decryption pipeline enabling inspection of encrypted traffic. Define integration of decryption layer with AV, IPS, content filtering, and application control. Lead hardware acceleration strategy for cryptographic and pattern‑matching workloads. Champion security hardening practices and ensure compliance with modern cryptographic standards. Conduct architecture reviews, write specs, set performance benchmarks, and mentor senior engineers. What You Need 10+ years of C/C++ development in high‑performance networking or security engines. Deep expertise in SSL/TLS (TLS 1.2/1.3), PKI, and OpenSSL/BoringSSL. Proven track record building or optimizing DPI or related security services on NGFW platforms. Expertise in multi‑core, low‑latency C/C++ programming, concurrency, and zero‑copy techniques. Strong debugging and profiling skills in complex, multi‑threaded networking environments. Experience driving hardware acceleration for cryptographic or pattern‑matching workloads. Good to Have Familiarity with NGFW security services from leading industry vendors. Exposure to modern encrypted protocols such as HTTP/3, QUIC, DoH, and ECH/ESNI. Experience tuning virtual or cloud firewalls for performance. Hands‑on use of traffic generators like Spirent, IXIA, or TRex.
