You are being sought out by a global SaaS company with over 60 employees and offices in Sydney, London, Boston, New York, and Mohali. They are in need of a Rust Backend Developer to join their engineering team. This role will involve contributing to the development of scalable, secure, and efficient backend systems using Rust. You will have the opportunity to work on impactful projects with global exposure, gaining hands-on experience in Rust.
In this role, your responsibilities will include:
– Developing and maintaining backend services and RESTful APIs using Rust.
– Writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code under mentorship.
– Collaborating with frontend, design, and product teams to deliver end-to-end features.
– Implementing and optimizing database queries (SQL/NoSQL) for performance and scalability.
– Designing and maintaining caching layers to improve application performance.
– Debugging, testing, and optimizing backend services for reliability.
– Learning and applying best practices in software architecture, security, and CI/CD.
To qualify for this position, you should have:
– Familiarity with the Rust programming language.
– Understanding of backend concepts such as REST APIs, authentication, and microservices.
– Exposure to databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL, or NoSQL alternatives.
– Basic understanding of caching techniques like Redis, in-memory, or similar.
– Knowledge of Git and version control workflows.
– Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn.
– A Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Additional skills that would be considered a bonus:
– Experience with async Rust frameworks like Actix, Axum, or Rocket.
– Exposure to containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) or cloud platforms.
– Knowledge of message queues, background jobs, or event-driven architectures.
Preferred skills also include exposure to Actix, Rocket, or Axum frameworks, understanding of Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud services (AWS, GCP, Azure), knowledge of event-driven architecture/message queues, experience with testing and debugging in Rust, and contributions to open-source or personal Rust projects.
