The role balances strategic direction‑setting with hands‑on coding, allowing you to drive AI‑first practices across a modern engineering team. What You’ll Do Architect and build the RackAI platform using Go and Kubernetes operators. Design highly scalable backend services and APIs for AI‑enabled products. Implement Kubernetes‑native applications with controller‑runtime/kubebuilder. Champion cloud‑native best practices: observability, resiliency, and operational readiness. Drive an AI‑first engineering culture by integrating coding assistants across the workflow. Lead technical reviews, mentor developers, and shape architectural standards. Automate provisioning, scaling, and lifecycle management of multi‑environment Kubernetes deployments. What You Need Expert-level Go (Golang) development with 5+ years production experience. Deep expertise in Kubernetes architecture, operations, and operator development. Proven track record building distributed, microservices‑based cloud‑native applications. Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs, event‑driven systems, and secure coding practices. Hands‑on experience with Docker/OCI containers and CI/CD DevOps pipelines. Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects and mentor engineering teams. Practical experience using AI coding assistants and integrating generative AI models. Good to Have Experience building AI/ML platforms or AI‑enabled enterprise products. Familiarity with service mesh, observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana) and CRD/operator patterns. Hands‑on with major cloud providers, especially AWS. The Opportunity Join a senior, hands‑on team that defines the architecture of RackAI, Rackspace’s strategic AI platform, and set the standard for AI‑first engineering across the company.
