Vodafone is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join the Software Engineering – BIBDA function in Pune, Maharashtra, India. This role involves designing, building, and operationalizing cloud-based data processing solutions, translating architectural designs into robust implementations, and developing scalable data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform.
Responsibilities include preparing low-level designs from high-level architectures, building and deploying data processing systems, developing and optimizing data pipelines using GCP services like BigQuery and Airflow, applying cloud data pipeline patterns, acting as a subject matter expert in GCP data engineering, mentoring junior team members, managing small teams or projects, contributing to organizational improvements, and actively participating in internal technical communities.
Candidates should have strong SQL and data modelling skills, hands-on experience with the GCP ecosystem (BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Looker), practical experience with DBT (model development, Jinja templating, lineage generation), and a solid understanding of Data Vault 2.0 concepts on cloud data warehouses. A minimum of 6 years of overall industry experience, with 2-4 years specifically on GCP, DBT, and Data Vault 2.0, is required. A Google Cloud Certified Professional Data Engineer certification is advantageous. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (B.E./B.Tech, BCA/MCA, BSc/MSc) is essential. Strong collaboration, problem-solving, and knowledge-sharing skills are also expected.
