As a Senior Software Engineer in the Media & Entertainment industry, your role will involve a blend of hands-on backend engineering and higher-level responsibilities in design, architecture, and team leadership. You will play a crucial part in shaping solutions, mentoring junior engineers, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software.
• *Key Responsibilities:**
– Lead the design and development of backend services and APIs using modern backend frameworks.
– Design and implement highly scalable and easily expandable backend systems to adapt to evolving business needs and future growth.
– Contribute to system architecture discussions and own module/service-level designs.
– Design and build scalable, reliable, and secure client-facing APIs in compliance with security best practices.
– Develop internal APIs consumed by frontend applications and services, ensuring clean, maintainable, and performant code.
– Design and optimize solutions using both relational and non-relational databases.
– Champion AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery, improve code quality, and share best practices.
– Partner with QA for quality feature delivery, ensuring sufficient unit test coverage for backend services.
– Support and mentor junior engineers in writing effective unit tests and promoting a test-first mindset.
– Collaborate with product managers to refine requirements and ensure engineering alignment with business goals.
– Participate in Agile development processes and guide junior engineers through mentorship and code reviews.
– Champion best practices in CI/CD, containerization, and observability/monitoring.
– Contribute to technical decision-making, process improvements, and participate in the hiring and interview process as needed.
• *Qualifications Required:**
– 5+ years of professional experience as a software engineer.
– Robust proficiency in backend service development.
– Strong hands-on experience with relational databases.
– Experience with non-relational databases, distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven messaging architectures.
– Proven experience with AWS or other cloud platforms for building distributed, scalable systems.
– Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Git, and containerization.
– Experience embedding security and compliance best practices into backend and API design.
– Strong understanding of system design principles, scalability, performance optimization, and high availability.
– Proficiency in AI-assisted coding tools, observability practices, and Agile development.
– Experience in writing and maintaining unit and integration tests, with the ability to guide less-experienced engineers.
– Media & entertainment industry experience is a plus.
– Exposure to infrastructure-as-code and multiple backend frameworks is beneficial.
